Position Overview

Flintlock Ltd. Co is seeking a curious, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Designer to support our firm’s multi-disciplinary projects with creativity and precision, from early concept to implementation. The right candidate is an emerging design professional (architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, interior design, etc.) who is eager to learn, collaborate, and grow professionally. 

You should be excited to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and comfortable working across a range of design challenges—from concept development and drafting to research and construction observation. You’ll work closely with senior staff to develop your technical, creative, and communication skills while being cross-trained across all design and development disciplines practiced in our office. Licensure in your design specialty is not required; however, a willingness to pursue professional development across all design disciplines is key. This position is fully in-person at our office and various properties around downtown Fayetteville.

Responsibilities of this Role

  • Support the design and development of projects from concept through completion, assisting with drawings, research, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across architecture, site, and interiors, participating in cross-training to gain experience in all design disciplines.

  • Assist in the coordination of client, consultant, and contractor communications, helping ensure alignment of project goals and expectations.

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the production of construction documents with a focus on precision and intent.

  • Support site visits and fieldwork, documenting progress and assisting in identifying design or construction issues.

  • Research codes, materials, and methods to support project compliance with zoning, accessibility, and building regulations.

  • Engage in a learning-focused, collaborative work environment—seeking feedback, asking questions, and growing within the studio’s mentorship structure.

  • Collaborate with the Principal and senior team members to support internal design initiatives and special projects.

  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all materials and communications.

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local legislation

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • 0-7 years of professional experience in the built environment.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools.

  • Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and sustainability principles.

  • Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and an ability to work on multiple projects at once.

  • Flexibility and a willingness to jump into new roles or tasks as needed.

  • Interest in pursuing licensure or professional certification is a plus. 

Compensation
The proposed salary for this full-time position is negotiable. Flintlock Ltd Co offers a $400 monthly medical stipend to cover the premium of a marketplace health care plan. New employees are eligible after 12 months of employment for twelve weeks of paid parental leave (for both birthing and non-birthing parents) at 60% salary, which may be taken consecutively up front or may be taken throughout the first 12 months after birth or adoption of a new child. After an initial 180 trial period, this position is eligible for short- and long-term disability insurance. All employees receive 7 paid holidays and 120 hours of annual PTO accruing at a rate of 4 hours per pay period with 16 hours granted after the initial 3-month review.
